About Me

Services

My clinical approach

I use a structured approach, initially developing a shared understanding of your history and life experience and how strengths and difficulties have developed over time.  Where appropriate, we may also explore neurodevelpmental factors such as ADHD or Autism.  This forms the 'formulation' which identifies the psychological and contextual factors that are maintaining problems and in turn, identifies processes and ultimately a plan to achieve your goals.

01

Therapy for Children and Young People

Therapy is collaborative and aims to understand the young persons experience of emotions and relationships within a safe and accepting therapeutic space.

02

Adult Therapy

Anxiety, low mood, self-esteem and emotion regulation problems are signs that we need ways to move forward.  Therapy offers a space to explore how your experiences have shaped beliefs, relationships and behaviours, and identify new ways to approach challenges.

03

ADHD & Autism Specific Therapy

Therapy designed around ADHD and autistic ways of thinking, feeling and processing.  We focus on strengths, self-understanding and realistic supports, rather than 'fixing' who you are.Additional screening for indicators of neurodevelopment differences can be included to direct interventions and later assessment.

04

Consultation with Schools and Workplaces

Collaborative support for schools and employers to understand and include neurodivergent individuals.  This may include observations, practical strategies and staff guidance.

05

Parenting Support

Whether you are struggling to handle challenges with your child, or your own role as a parent, building enduring bonds will pay huge dividends in current and future family life.  Sessions focus on building parents' emotional literacy, communication and problem solving skills matched to age and  developmental stage, giving you the tools to be a confident and effective parent.

What my clients say

"I cannot recommend Ailsa highly enough.

I struggled with extreme agoraphobia for several years, and through our sessions she helped me understand the root of my difficulties and provided clear, practical strategies using CBT and exposure therapy.

She was incredibly understanding and explained my challenges in a way that made them feel far more manageable.

"Since completing therapy, I have overcome my long-standing fear of flying and have taken several flights - something I never believed would be possible after more than a decade of avoidance.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Ailsa to anyone seeking support.  Our sessions together have been life changing.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Ailsa to anyone seeking support.  Our sessions together have been life changing."

"I would like to thank Ailsa for her patience and professionalism with our son.  He was not in a great place when we started seeing Ailsa. She managed to get him to open up to her and explore everything that was going on in his mind and with his illness. She was patient and gave him targets with regards to his sleeping and eating patterns.  Within a couple of weeks we seemed to be hitting every target and he seemed in a better place both physically and emotionally.  He was happy for the first time in a long long time.

We were struggling to find someone who could help him and support us as parents. We felt we were failing our son which would end up with all of us getting frustrated and lost in our communication.

Ailsa helped us to work on this and change our perspectives and the way we responded to him and vice versa. I cannot thank Ailsa enough for her help, and I would highly recommend her services without hesitation."
